Our prefabricated walls use standard steel frames filled with hempcrete. Hempcrete is made of the inner woody core of the hemp plant (hemp shives) mixed with a lime-based binder and water. The lime-based binder typically consists of either hydrated lime or natural hydraulic lime. Hydrated lime is made from pure limestone and sets through the absorption of CO2 during the carbonation process.
What is Hempcrete?
Why Choose Hempcrete?
The benefits of using hempcrete as a building material are extensive, including:
- Insulates well, strong, durable.
- Highly resistant to mold, moisture, and fire.
- Naturally deters pests like termites.
- A net positive for the environment.
- Continually absorbs CO2 like houseplants.
- Hemp is a sustainable resource. It grows quickly with minimal effort, restoring the soil in the process.
